ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The SOMA Film Festival showcases exceptional independent narrative and documentary films in the heart of the towns of Maplewood and South Orange, New Jersey.
The festival begins with an opening night soirée and screening, ends with a closing night award ceremony and showcases over 100 great films (long and short) in between.
Once again this year, we will hold a short screenplay competition with a $1000 prize. Three finalists will be selected and the winner will be announced before the Saturday night feature.
Our much-loved Kids, Youth Filmmaker, and our Locals Only Program will be back again this year.
Filmmakers who submit and are accepted will receive five VIP Passes for all the films, the party, guest speakers, and panels. Also, filmmakers in attendance will meet one-on-one with a noted expert in film distribution to discuss their work and the options that exist.
